Why is an engagement photography session important?

We personally feel as photographers that we learn a lot about our time spent with our clients during their engagement photography sessions. Although this is not a pre requisite we highly recommend it. Think of it as a first date. You get to speak to each other find out a few fundamentals about how we all connect. We feel that during your engagement photography session we are able to show you how we work and give you a small taste of what you can expect on your wedding day.

Our engagement photography sessions are fun and personal and each couple has an opportunity to express their love story in detail or in an elusive fashion as part of a treasure in celebration of their love for one another. Personally one day when we are old, we will enjoy sharing these adventures with friends and family and will be able to relive these moments through our engagement photographs.

To decide on what you would like to do for your engagement shoot, think about something you would both love to do or an activity or a place that you love sharing. That’s it! Leave the rest up to us. We can offer you ideas and options on locations. If you need assistance with hair and make-up we know just the right professionals. Once we have chosen a date we then plan the shoot so that you can relax and have fun in your preferred environments.

We really enjoy our engagement sessions and have found that connecting with our clients in this way assists us in understanding who they are and what they mean to each other. It is this empathy and understanding that we believe transform a simple picture into a photographic work of art. Both the subject and the photographer make the photograph, not just the camera.

“When you show deep empathy toward others, their defensive energy goes down, and positive energy replaces it. That’s when you can get more creative in solving problems.” ~ Stephen Covey
